Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Japanese: 大魔界村Hepburn: Daimakaimura, lit. Great Demon World Village) is a side-scrollingplatform game developed by Capcom and released as an arcade game in 1988, and subsequently ported to a number of other platforms. It is the sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins and the second game in the Ghosts 'n Goblins series.

Super is a sequel to Ghouls N' Ghosts and a different game. I prefer the Genesis version to the arcade one. They're nearly identical but the Genesis one has better music IMO and is more accesible as it has boss checkpoints. But yeah, as a tip, Ghosts N' Goblins is GNG1, Ghouls N' Ghosts 2 and Super is 3. Ultimate is 4 as well. Ghouls 'n Ghosts (Dai Makaimura, or 'Great Demon World Village' in Japan) is a platform game/run and gun developed by Capcom and released as an arcade game in 1988, and subsequently ported to a number of other platforms. It is the sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins, and prequel to the Super NES game Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.

Ghoul's 'N Ghosts is just a great amount of fun. And more importantly, it works perfectly. I was able to enjoy hours and hours of great, difficult game play from a game made two decades ago. Great buy, all and all. The Ghouls 'n Ghosts coin-operated Videogame by Capcom (circa 1988), and it's history and background, photos, repair help, manuals, for sale and wanted lists, and census survey is brought to you by The International Arcade Museum at the Museum fo the Game.

Story[edit]

3 years after the events of the last game monsters and demons have returned and a beam of light struck through Princess Prin Prin taking her soul. Now its up to the knight Arthur to defeat the evil Lucifer and restore the souls of Prin Prin and the people.

Gameplay[edit]

An example of gameplay in the arcade version.

The gameplay for Ghouls 'n Ghosts is similar to that of Ghosts 'n Goblins. The player controls the knightArthur, who must advance through a series of eerie levels and defeat a number of undead and demonic creatures in his quest to restore all the people killed by Lucifer (Loki in the English-language Mega Drive and Master System versions), including his beloved Princess Prin Prin, back to life. Along the way, Arthur can pick up a variety of weapons and armor to help him in his quest. While the core gameplay remains the same as its predecessor, the game now allows Arthur to fire directly upward and directly downward while in mid air.

Ghost And Ghouls Game

By jumping in certain spots, players can cause a treasure chest to erupt from the ground. By firing his weapon at the chest, players may uncover new weapons, gold armor or an evil magician that changes Arthur into an elderly man or a helpless duck. The gold armor allows players to charge up the weapon to release a powerful magical attack. Each weapon has its own special attack, with the exception of the special weapon (see below).

Levels

There are five levels and Lucifer's chamber at the end, considered a sixth level in itself. To defeat the game, Arthur must complete levels 1 through 5 twice. Upon completing them the first time, Arthur is taken back to level 1 again but this time a special weapon appears during the game. To enter Lucifer's chamber the player must have this special weapon equipped, and must have defeated the final Fly boss from level 5. After entering the final large door, the player goes directly to Lucifer's chamber.

Level 1 – The Haunted Graveyard (sometimes known as the Executioner's Graveyard) & The Floating Island.

Level 2 – Village of Decay & The Town On Fire.

Level 3 – Baron Rankle's Tower & The Horrible Faced Mountains.

Level 4 – The Crystal Cave & The Icy Descent.

Level 5 – Lucifer's Castle Part 1 & Lucifer's Castle Part 2.

Level 6 – Lucifer's Chamber.

Music[edit]

The original soundtrack for the arcade version was composed by Tamayo Kawamoto. Many computer ports of the game include the soundtrack by Tim Follin which consists of arrangements and some new songs. Follin's soundtrack – especially Commodore 64, Atari ST (which both implement each machines' 'chiptune' synthesizers although the selection of pieces and some scoring differs slightly between computers) and Amiga versions (of which the playlist is again slightly different) – is respected among computer game music listeners and also gained appreciation from reviewers when the game was published.[1]

Home versions[edit]

  • Ports of Ghouls 'n Ghosts were released in Europe in 1989 for the Amstrad CPC, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum. These ports were all handled by Software Creations and all omit a great deal of detail from the arcade version even on very capable 32-Bit machines like the Amiga.
  • A Sega Mega Drive/Genesis port of Ghouls 'n Ghosts (programmed by Yuji Naka) was also released by Sega in 1989 in Japan and North America; and in 1990 in Europe. MegaTech magazine noted that although it was a good game, they felt the price of £45 was too high, This version was re-released as a handheld TV game with Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition in 2005 and as a downloadable Virtual Console game for the Wii in 2007. This version was also included on the Sega Genesis Mini in 2019.
  • Sega also released a Master System port in 1990. This 8-bit version made changes to the game by introducing a power-up system that allows the player to enter secret shops and upgrade parts of their armor. This includes helmets, which give the player access to new weapons and magic spells; chest armor, which allows the player to sustain more damage; and boots, which increases the player's speed.
  • The SuperGrafx port of Daimakaimura released by NEC Avenue in 1990 was one of the five games released for the short-lived system. This version was also included on the TurboGrafx-16 Mini in 2020.
  • A pixel perfect version of Daimakaimura was released by Capcom in 1994 for the Sharp X68000.
  • In 1998, Capcom released Capcom Generation 2 for the PlayStation and Saturn in Japan, a compilation which included Ghouls 'n Ghosts along with Ghosts 'n Goblins and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. The PlayStation version of this compilation was released as a bundle in Europe with three other volumes titled Capcom Generations (in plural) under the title of Capcom Generations: Chronicles of Arthur. Capcom later released in North America Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2005 and Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded for the PlayStation Portable in 2006, which includes all the Capcom Generations titles. The emulation on a number of these compilations is slightly off, in that the screen display is too dark.
  • The arcade version of Ghouls 'n Ghosts was re-released as one of the included games on the Capcom Home Arcade console in 2019.

Ghost N Ghouls

In days of old when knights were bold And the Genesis was just invented. They programmed a host of Ghouls 'n Ghosts and gamers were contented.

Heroic knight Sir Arthur is one of the original princess-savers, and he's out to rescue Princess Tamara from the clutches of the vile Dark Prince, Loki. Run, jump, and hit that fire button - sure you've done it all before, but gadzooks! It's still fun!

Journey through Terror

Ghouls And Ghosts Online

Sir Arthur's five stage journey covers some of the most challenging SMS terrain around. Each stage consists of two rounds followed by a free-for-all versus a Gatekeeper, the boss who holds the key to the next level. All but one round scroll horizontally.

No vacation spots here; you'll tackle the Hill of Torture, the Village of Decay and Destruction, Baron Rankle's Tower, the Crystal Forest, and the creepy Castle.

Loki's minions overrun the land, and they exist to make your visit as unpleasant as possible. Take a hit and to add insult to injury you lose your armor and then your life. But though Spirits of Death, Pigmen, Skull Blossoms, mutant dragonflies, and Fire Bats look fierce (especially if you're only wearing underwear), it's negotiating the tricky obstacles such as rickety bridges, fire pits, tongue escalators, and a slippery stream bed that make the challenge intense.

Fight your way to Loki's doorstep and then you may find that it's like deja vu all over again.

ProTip: To beat the Stage 1 Demon boss, stand underneath its floating head and fire up at it. If you have the Red Armor, you can get it before it gets you.

Might Makes Right

The action's lively enough to keep your thumbs busy and your wits on edge without short circuiting your brain. Arthur's got a good arm (he throws all his weapons), so a keen shooting eye is your best offense. You start out with the trusty Javelin, but you can find Daggers, Axes, Discuses, and Fireballs.

In the vertical Stage 3-1 go right young man (or woman)!

For added punch you can acquire five types of magic, too, but you can actually make it most of the way through without using any at all.

Ghouls
  • If possible, upgrade your shoes first. Stage 2-2 is torture with the ordinary Silver Shoes.

  • The dagger is the best weapon. It's quick, and it has the longest range.

You get help along the way in the form of Treasure Chests, which can rise up out of the ground anywhere. Blast 'em open and you may reveal a secret Gate where you can upgrade your protective armor, don faster shoes, or recharge your magic power.

  • In general, Gates appear once each stage (unless you die and continue). After that you can bet that the Wizard is waiting for you in the remaining Treasure Chests.

  • It your life points are low, grabbing Armor from a Gate will restore them even if it's the same color as the suit you're wearing.

However, ninety percent of the time Chests hide the pesky Magician. If you aren't fast on the draw, he'll turn you into a daffy duck (if you're wearing armor) or an old geezer (if you aren't).

Unlimited continues help you make a strong bid for the endgame screen, but there's no password feature so be sure you've paid your electric bill if you try to go all , the way.

My control center is look like bellow, herepower & battery option has only power plan option, here totallyMouse & Keyboard and Hardware option are missing. Sony vaio care download. There is many option missing.

Ghoulish Looks

Ghouls is a sharp-looking game. The graphics are excellent and the animation's smooth, with the just the barest twinge of flicker. Sir Arthur is a neat little cartoon-character, and it's a crackup when he loses his clothes or turns into a geezer. The monsters look pretty mean, particularly the Demon Heads and Loki.

  • Stand above the Stage 4 Wurm boss' five hearts and attack them when the valves are closed.

  • When you encounter Stage 5-2's floating Demon Heads, attack the one on the right first. If you destroy it, keep moving right until the Head on the left goes off screen. Next move left until only the very tip of its horn appears. It won't fire at you, but you can destroy it off-screen.

  • After you defeat Stage 5-2's Demon Heads, you'll come across two large doorways where two Blue Ogre's are hiding. To avoid a fatal crossfire find the spot in between the doorways where you can't be hit and only one of them appears at a time.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is about as good a video adventure as there is. SMS crusaders searching for a quest ought to party hearty with Sir Arthur.
